I love eBay, because that's where I found this cool Timex GPS Speed and Distance watch.
I was thinking about
getting a GPS to run and bike with, but I didn't want the big clunky wrist
mount GPS like everyone else. So when I saw this on eBay I put my bid into
Auction Sniper and I won it. It
was here when I got home, so I pulled it out of the box and went down to the
CityFit ~4 mile run to try it out. Works great. It let me know that I was
running at 6 mph. There's a
watch,
plus a GPS unit that straps
to your arm or clips to your waist. It looks like there is also a heart
rate monitor unit that will transmit to the watch.

I run this site with vi. In case you're not familiar with vi, it's the unix equivalent of Windows
Notepad. I just write each page by hand and edit the HTML with a text
editor. Sometimes I create the page on a Windows machine with Notepad,
and upload it. So when I saw a "this site vi powered" graphic, I grabbed it,
and put it in the footer of each page.

Alex had a great birthday party this weekend. Kids, dogs, cake, beer, mosquitos, fireworks, swamp buggy rides and small arms
fire. All captured in 640x480 VGA quality

I tried out the Fireworks mode on the camera when Jim was setting off fireworks by the lake. I shot a lot of photos, and
some of them turned
out pretty good.

I'm running this afternoon at Run and Roll. Will I see you
there? I think this will make four Fridays in a row. There's free beer
afterward. Plus Jerry's got a cool, simplistic
website. posted at: 15:20 | permalink |
So last night I was at the meeting and we were trying to think of ways to spend the last of the money in the
budget before the city took it back. One of the other board members has a
pretty heavy Spanish (Mexican?) accent, and he said "We could get two
muppets to watch the neighborhood". There was a long pause while everyone
else tried to figure out what he meant. Finally someone said "What do you
mean?", and he said "Choo know, muppets, to watch the neighborhood". There
was another pause, while we all tried to think of an English word that sounds
like "muppet" when you say it with a Spanish accent, but nobody could come
up with it. Finally someone else said "What kind of a muppet?", and he said
"A muppet! Like an escooter!", and we all said "Ohhhh". posted at: 08:39 | permalink |

Eggbeaters I got my new Crank Brothers
Eggbeater Mallet C pedals in the mail a couple days ago. I put them on
my beater bike the day I got them, and I've already ridden them twice. Before
I always had to put on my special bike shoes to ride the bike. Well, actually
I have two bikes and I only had one set of pedals, so I was forever moving
the pedals from one bike to the other. The mallets are a platform pedal,
with clip-ins in the middle, so you can ride them with the special geeky bike
shoes, or with regular shoes. The first time I rode them I put on my special
geeky shoes, and had no problem clipping in and out, just like the
Eggbeater Candy SL
pedals I have on the mountain bike. Last night I rode the bike down
to the hash in my running shoes, and the pedals worked fine with them.
